What SeismoSelect Offers
SeismoSelect connects to major strong-motion repositories — including the NGA West 2 Ground Motion Database, the NGA East Ground Motion Database, the ESM Engineering Strong Motion Database, the NGA-Subduction Database, and the New Zealand Ground Motion Database — letting you search and retrieve real accelerograms from around the world.
The Personal Database feature allows users to create, manage, and maintain their own collection of seismic records. Users can import external accelerograms, organize them into custom folders, and seamlessly integrate them into the selection workflow. Records stored in the Personal Database can be searched, filtered, and selected like in standard databases, enabling a unified and flexible record-selection process tailored to your individual needs.
SeismoSelect evaluates how well candidate records match a target spectrum over a chosen period range. It then allows scaling of the selected records so that the suite’s mean, as well as the individual records, align with the target spectrum — ideal for nonlinear dynamic analyses or code compliance.
Users can filter candidate records using a variety of criteria: target response spectrum, ground-motion parameters (e.g. PGA, PGV, Arias or Housner intensity), seismic event metadata (magnitude, faulting style, date, location), and site/record conditions (e.g. Vs30, epicentral distance).
Instead of manually downloading and adjusting records one by one, SeismoSelect enables selecting, scaling, and downloading whole suites of ground motions in a streamlined, automated process — saving time and avoiding manual errors.
The selected record suite can be easily passed to SeismoMatch, in order to be further adjusted and exactly match specific target spectrum required by building codes or project specifications.
