Hinge on a frame

Post by Frank »

I am working on a frame with two rotational springs (modeled with "rich_abb") and a hinged connected beam on top.
If I perform a seismic analysis, I achieve a bending moment on the hinge which makes me a bit wondering. Furthermore the magnitude of the bending moment differs from the graphical output to the step output. Within the step output it is rather small, whereas in the graphical output is appears of a higher magnitude.
What is the best way to model a simple hinged connection of two elastic elements?

Kind regards

Frank, hi.

For what concerns the apparent difference between graphical and step outputs, we will pay a look to the model in question, and let you know.

With regards to your question on the best way of modelling a hinged connection, we wonder if introducing an end-release would not be the best solution?
