failure of steel frame

Post by limaei »

hi dear
i want to model a nonlinear behavior of structure .i work whit seismo structure.but i have some problem:
1- i can't determine the point of failed or displacement that failed occur.i want to know in which displacement in each story of a 2-d steel frame the plastic hing occur.
2- i don't reach to an answer!mean run of my model failed
please help me for these problems
sincerely

Hi,

There are several response parameters (e.g. material deformation, chord rotation, interstorey drift, member shear) that one may check to see if a structure has reached or not a given limit state (e.g. yield, damage, collapse, etc). This, however, is not really a question related to the analytical capabilities of the program, but rather to seismic response of structures, in general.

In any case, you may want to use the 'Performance Criteria' facility of the program in order to facilitate the individuation of when and where a given response parameter threshold value is reached.
