Joint Shear Capacity

Post by E.Veliu »

Dear,

I am modelling an RC building in SB 2023 and performing pushover analyses in line with NTC18.

As per the NTC18 I am checking the ultimate rotation, shear, and the joint strengths of the members. However, when trying to do a sanity check of the model I noticed that the joint capacity differs when in the check boxes I checked for the control of the all above mentioned criteria or when in the check box only joint capacity is checked while the drift, rotation, and shear checks are unchecked.
There is a difference in the ratio of four.
What is happening therein?

Thank you in advance,
Enes

Dear E.Veliu,

There is a bug in the demand values of the Joints checks when you select to execute code-based checks only for the joints in the pushover analysis of the NTC. This bug will be fixed in the upcoming release, which will be published within this week. Thank you for reporting it. I kindly note that the correct values for the joints checks are those obtained when you select all the code-based checks to be executed.

Are you going to add as a feature the joint check failure at the end of a gravitational analysis?

We will consider your suggestion, although SeismoBuild is mainly a program for the seismic assessment of buildings. Note that even with the current release you can carry out such check, if you specify a very low (almost zero) seismic loading level.
