Base Isolator

Post by rbsce.ph »

Hello Seismosoft,

Is there any model/reference I can use related to spherical sliding bearing (NS-SSB)? I am trying to model this specific isolator and I was hoping if I can have any guidelines. Any comment is highly appreciated. Thank you and regards.

There are some models of isolated structures on the SeismoStruct support page found here:

https://seismosoft.com/seismobuild-seis ... le-models/

Isolators in these models have been treated as link-type elements using, for example, the bi-linear kinetic, link element. See the User's Manual for more guidance on the modeling of link-type elements to supplement the sample files. One option for spherical sliders might be the bi-linear kinetic element with appropriate values for yield force and post-yield stiffness ratio.

Best of luck with your work.

Dear Cici,

As Mr. Huffte wrote in his post, you may find some models with link elements that act as isolators in
