Confinement in Rocking Walls

Hello,

I am trying to simulate Hybrid Post-Tensioned Rocking Walls in SeismoStruct. To simulate uplift at the base of the wall, i use zero tensile strength in concrete and use concrete only section to a certain depth. The concrete only section is simply 'RCRWS' section with no longitudinal reinforcement.

While defining the wall section RCRWS, i have provided transverse reinforcement so that the boundary element exhibits confined concrete behavior. However, during simulation i found that the bottom panel (i.e the concrete only section) behaves as unconfined concrete. Could this be due to lack of longitudinal reinforcement? Could you please suggest me a way to overcome this issue and achieve confined concrete behavior at boundary elements as well.

I also tried manually inputting edge confinement factor, but that too did not help. Thank you.

Indeed, according to the confinement model both longitudinal and transverse are required to achieve confinement.
Note however that in SeismoStruct user'defined values can also introduced to the confinement factors.
