I have modeled an isolated bridge. I got result and compared them with the result got using another software. There was a big difference between the piles top displacements. I didn't understand since i used exactly the same parameters.
Then i have realized that, in Seismostruct, there is a difference in circular hollow section, rcchs, between dimension given in section properties tab and 3d visualization of the element having that section.
With a inner diameter 0.6 and an outer diameter of 1.7 of pile section, and dimension of the element which is between pile and deck(modeled with an elastic element) ugual to (section) 3.4*2.8 and (length) 7 m, the 3d view seemed to be ok but i got big differences in displacement results at the top of the piles.
If I set an inner diameter 1.2 and an outer diameter of 3.4. When i looked at the 3d the dimension of the pile (diameter) was bigger than the dimension of the element which is between pile and deck. In tha latter case the results are very close to those i got from the other software.
Is it possible that there is a bug or i am making some mistake? If there is a bug which of the two (section property dimension or model 3D view) is true.
Thanks

Re: Differences between 3D model and dimension
Dear Antonio,
Thank you for your detailed description of a possible bug with the 3D rendering; we will look into this matter as soon as possible.
In the meantime, it will be safe for you to assume that the 'section property dimensions' are the one to trust, rather than the 3D rendering.
Thanks again,

Re: Differences between 3D model and dimension
We can indeed confirm this to be a bug with the 3D rendering of circular sections, which we will correct in the next release. (the results are obviously unchanged, only the visualisation is wrong)
Thanks again for bringing it to our attention.

Dear Antonio,
You may now download v5.0.4-Build5 of SeismoStruct, which no longer features the bug that you have identified.
Thanks again for signalling this to us.
