Shear failure surface for panel

Post by zhwang »

To whom it may concern,
I have a question which is how to calculate the shear failure surface? I notice that the strut area A1 (SeismoStruct user manual page 226) is the compressive strut area. However, I cannot find how to calculate the shear strut area from this manual. Could you please suggest me how to calculate the shear strut area? Thank you very much.

Best regards,
Summer

The shear failure surface is the interaction surface between the infill panel and the upper and lower beam, i.e. A=Lhorizontal x D, the former being the horizontal legth of the panel and D is the depth of the panel.
