Elastic Material

Post by MEAM »

For the elastic material, How can I enter the ultimate tensile and the ultimate compressive strengths. Only the parameters available are the modulus of elasticity and the specific weight.
Thanks

Hi MEAM.

By definition, an "elastic" material possesses infinite strength - that is, it remains elastic regardless of load level.

So if you need to determine behavior beyond the true elastic strength, you will have to make use of elements composed on inelastic materials.

Best of luck MEAM.

Sorry for that, but can you explain it in much more detailed manner. By the way, Am gonna model a FRP reinforced concrete beam instead of regular steel reinforcement. Thanks a lot for your kindly help

MEAM, I would recommend a forum search on "frp".

You will get many hits and hopefully these will provide information that you need on modeling of FRP sections.
