Dear all,
I have a problem of having a shear wall, where i'm told to find the strains due to shear component at its base, when subjected to a time history.
If i am using an inelastic Force based element to model the walls, could there be a way of only separating the shear deformations?
Does the inelastic force based element have a shear deformation component in its formulation?
shear deformation component
Re: shear deformation component
Dear Nimish,
the distributed inelasticity elements which are currently available in SeismoStruct do not model/compute shear deformation/strength.

Re: shear deformation component
Do you plan to include this feature in the next version? If yes, it will be calculated using the formula included in EC8 pt3?

Re: shear deformation component
Unfortunately, the estimation of shear deformation&strength will not be included in the next SeismoStruct version
