Concrete Cube and Cylinder Testing

Post by zsaeed »

Want to simulate the cylinder testing for determination of strength of cylindrical concrete specimens along with formation of Stress-strain curve.
I have modeled the specimen with dimensions as specifid by code now how to simulate the rate of loading on this cylinder to get the Stress-Strain curve and ultimate compressive strength of cube cylinder.

for Figure

Hi zsaeed,

Simulating uniaxial material testing is not really something that you would normally do with a beam-column Finite Elements software such as SeismoStruct, since the latter requires material stress-strain to be defined by the user as input information, as opposed to it being an output/result of the program.

I understand it Sir that the stress-Strain is some thing which is ususally input to most of the numerical simulation. But is there no way that we could do this on a Fininte Elelment software as well ??
Actually i have performed some testing of Cyllinder with and Without CFRP wraps on them and investigated various properties inclding the increse in compressive strength and ductility improvment as result of this wrapping. Now i want to further support this through a simulation for which i am looking for some technique. Any suggestion that i could make some comparison of the experimental work with a simulation ??

Hi zsaeed,

In order to simulate the tests you are carrying out you will need a different type of nonlinear software, such as Abaqus. SeismoStruct, featuring only linear 2-node elements, cannot be used to simulate a your 3d speciments.
