Seismic Isolation Modelling

Post by kotrotsou_e »

Hello! Has anyone modelled base isolated structures using this software? Thank you!

SStrcut has a versatile library of different link elements and could simulate different bearing types following the adequately calibrated link used.

The below paper is an example of using SStruct including "high damping rubber bearings (HDRB) and lead rubber bearings (LRB)".

Alam, M. S., Bhuiyan, M. R., & Billah, A. M. (2012). Seismic fragility assessment of SMA-bar restrained multi-span continuous highway bridge isolated by different laminated rubber bearings in medium to strong seismic risk zones. Bulletin of Earthquake Engineering, 10(6), 1885-1909.

Yes. I have found that SeismoStruct works very well with link elements to model isolators. I have modeled both LRB and FPS systems on SeismoStruct.

Thank you for your replies! If you have any more papers that can guide me, please, forward them to me. I am doing my master's thesis and it's the first time I deal with isolators, so any help is more than welcome! [:)]
