Hi iliya56,

Thank you for the model that you sent us. Pretty impressive, we must admit!
We had a look at it, and it seems that the different parts of the tower are not connected with each other. For example:
(1) the two ends of the column element 2157 are nodes 2656 & 2655
(2) the first horizontal beam that is connected to 2157 is element 1764 with end nodes 2202 & 2203
(3) the 2nd horizontal beam that is connected to 2157 is element 1769 with end nodes 2202 & 2208
(4) the braces that are supposed to be connected to 2157 are elements 2476 (nodes 2202 & 3004), element 2523 (nodes 3015 & 2202), element 2135 (nodes 2628 & 2202) & element 1536 (nodes 2202 & 2979).
The braces and the beams are all connected to node 2202, but all these are not connected to the column (element 2157).
As a solution we would recommend to (1) re-create the columns or (2) to use constraints -rigid links or Equal DOF- to support the beams from the columns

This problem also happens in the super-structure, the horizontal beams in the X direction are not connected tot he beams in thr Y direction

Hi seismosoft
Thanks a lot.I have edited the columns but the problem hasnt solved.the distances you told are less than 1 mm about 0.4 mm or so.how can I find these among a great number of elements that i have?
Should I rebuild my model completly?
thank you

We are not sure if it was clear in our previous message: In order to link the beams with the columns their end-nodes have to be the same (not two different nodes that are close).
Regarding your query, yes it might be a good idea to re-structure the column elements from scratch.

I didnt mean that.I meant the intersection of horizontal members. Is there a command in seismostruct to search and find the points that have such problems?

iliya56,

No, SeismoStruct does not currently feature the capability of merging nodes that are distanced less than a given user-defined threshold.
