There was a bug in the con_frp model in one of the latest releases of Seismostruct. Please make sure that you are using the latest build (v.5.2.2 build 10)

hai,
im having the same problem "unable to apply the entire permanent load".
i have assigned the frp strip as the truss element and define the length of applied frp in certain nodes along the beam. but it fails to run.
second thing is, what is the difference between con_frp and frp_tl?

TQ.

Dear TQ,

1) if the problem occurs when you add the frp material (i.e. if without the frp the analysis runs fine), then send us the model and we will look into it

2) if you read the Help System, you should easily realise that the two material models have plenty of differences

I Had the same problem when I had used distributed mass element beside the structural elements, But since I have used section additional mass in "SECTIONs" tab, I have not seen this error again. maybe there is a miss understanding in use of mass elements.

There is a number of reasons for which the analysis cannot converge, from simply numerical problems of the analysis (e.g. large load factor step chosen) to purely structural one (e.g. the model cannot sustain the applied loads).
If you carry out a search in the forum you will be a ble to obtain valuable information on possible reasons on your problem.

I have sent my model to support@seismosoft.com.can you help me to solve the problem.During analysis and in applying permanet load i have several error messages like sol-prb /fbd inv /max tol and whenever i change sth in settings or change the kind of element the error message changes too but the problem persists.I dont know what is the exact reason of this problem.

I have an other problem.
I want to do the time-history analysis and I selected the load curves from the file (Kobe.dat). But it terminated.
Unable to apply the next load step.
Please help me. I want to know how to solve this problem.
Thanks!

Fiona, it could be that your structure simply cannot withstand the Kobe loading. Can you use the same Kobe accelerogram, but apply a smaller factor - say, one-tenth of g instead of 1.0 g - in the loading specification to see if it will run? This would help pinpont whether or not the model is fine and just incapable of taking the full loading in this case.

And as a second suggestion, a forum search on 'unable to apply' will produce numerous hits and you will be able to see what others have done when this arises.

Best of luck Fiona.

Thanks, huffte. I forget to use the 'search'. Thank you very much.
