RC wall

Post by daniela.isidori »

Hi everyone,
I would like to know which is the best method to model the RC walls in seismostruct? It is better to use the section "rcrws" or two rods connecting the opposite nodes? In the case of the element "rcrws", I did not understand the position of the rigid link (from the help system). Where do I connect the nodes i and j of the element "rcrws"?

Hi daniela.

I think that the answer to this question depends on the wall behavior you wish to model and the method of construction for the wall.

For example, if you want to model a shear wall, then Verification Example, Ch4-RC-02.spf, would be an excellent place to see how this may be accomplished.

Or, if you have an infill panel, the any of the Chapter 4 Verification infill models - there are five of them - will provide valuable insight.

Would one of these two schemes meet your needs?

Best of luck.

Hi Huffte,
thank you very much for your help. I think that the Verification Example, Ch4-RC-02.spf is a good example.

Best regards
