Hi,
I modeled a 2D RC frame in seismostruct and I prformed several analysis on my model (Pushover,FAP,DAP,Dynamic time history).
I want to compare the story drifts of these analysises.Which method do you suggest me to compare the story drifts? In which time or step I should compare the drifts?
Best Regards
Gonzalo.
Comparing Story Drifts
Re: Comparing Story Drifts
Hi Gonzalo,
I guess there are several acceptable options...
In my opinion, the best approach is to estimate the performance points (PP) for your pushover curves based on the Acceleration Spectra compatible with the accelerogram used in the dynamic analyses. In this case, you might compare the drifts obtained at the maximum displacement from dynamic analysis with the ones corresponding to the step of your PP.
Hope this helps you...
Cheers,
Romain

Hi Dear Romain,
I tried several accelerograms for the dynamic analysis.but my model's maximum drift obtained from time history analysis is in the linear part of my pushover curve.what should I do?

Re: Comparing Story Drifts
Hi Gonzalo,
If you are interested in evaluate the dynamic response of your structure in the nonlinear range, you should use records with higher intensity or scale/match up the ones you are using now.
Note that, especially in the nonlinear range, the structures response may not vary linearly with the intensity of the records.
Cheers
