RC jacket section

Post by shahria »

In the Reinforced Concrete Jacket Section, there are only 4 inputs to define the section. There should be 2 more inputs to define the concrete jacket dimension, original cover dimension, and core concrete dimension. If you could update it, it will be very helpful.
Thanks,

We cannot quite understand your query, since we are able to define the section. Have you visited the Help System and checked the instructions there?

In reinforced concrete jacketed sections it would be helpfull if the user has the option to choose 2 different material types for reinforcement, one for existing and one for new reinforcement.

Dear kalianis,

Yes, yours is a pertinent observation, and we have not yet implement such feature only because it is actually more complex than it might seem at first glance. In the meantime, however, we wonder if you may not workaround such limitation by "playing" with the diameter of the re-bars?

That is, if, for instance, you would like to introduce a jacket steel that is of higher strength than the original steel in the column, perhaps you could "artificially" increase the diameter of the jacket rebars, in such a way that the resulting rebar tension capacity (rebar area x lower steel strength) is correct? Or vice-versa..
