how to simulate prestress strand
how to simulate prestress strand
I want to simulate a prestress strand located in the center of a column. It was unbonded. May I use a truss with initiale strain, how can I do it? Thanks!

Re: how to simulate prestress strand
Hi,
The use of a truss element coupled with a link element that does not allow for compression forces to be transmitted might be of use indeed. You might also need to apply axial compression forces to simulate the prestress loads.
The above is not a perfect reproduction of reality, but may perhaps be a good enough approximation.
We are sure that other users have carried out similar modelling before, and wonder if they can perhaps provide their precious feedback here?..
