To Whom It May Concern
I can not find any information in the help file on how SeismoStruct computes the confined concrete area. Is this area simply calculated as the area inclosed by the stirrups? The true confined area is less than this area depending on the distance between longitudinal reinforcement as well as the spacing of stirrups.

Re: Confined concrete
Dear Johann,
If your question refers to the 'con_cc' model, we note that the program does not calculate any confined area, but rather requests the user to define a confinement factor, which itself takes into account the effective confined area (please refer to the corresponding publication by Mander et al.).
Kind regards,

Hi,
I want to know for the unconfined concrete what will be the confinement factor?

Hi Muntasir,
if you use "1" it means that you don't have confinement.
