Shear Story

Post by warcorsario »

Dear Seismostruct

Generally in some scientific papers they present the graphs of story shear vs story level, how can I obtain those graphs and / or data in seismostruct?

In SeismoStruct the storey shear can be extracted by reading the shear forces of each individual column of that storey. In order to facilitate this function, it is a good strategy to create groups of elements, i.e. one group with all the columns of each storey. This will facilitate the selection of the members in the post-processor.

Thanks for your answer, the suggested procedure is quite logical, but how would i get the shear story if i have infill wall on the model?

With the same logic, however you need to analyse the diagonal strut internal force of the infills and get the projection to the horizontal direction.

Very thanks for your answer, the procedure is laborious if you have many wall infill of different sizes
