Dear All,
I'm conducting analysis related to damping energy and I have a few questions about your experinces in relation to time-history analysis.
Is there a way to obtain damping energy in the beam element, related to nonlinear material behavior ? At the same time, is it possible to extract from SeismoStruct energy dissipated only due to Rayleigh damping ?
Many thanks in advance for Your help.
Best regards,
michał

Re: Damping energy
Unfortunately, in SeismoStruct there is no output for the measurements of the energy dissipation. The only output that could be of help is the time-history of the total damping forces.

Thank You for the answer. Is there indirect way to obtain these values ? Have you recognized issue related to this topic ?
Many thanks in advance for replay.

Re: Damping energy
Hello Michal,
Although I am not an expert on the field, I am not aware of any indirect method to calculate the energy dissipated only due to Rayleigh damping.
