Power Spectrum
Power Spectrum
What are the units of the power spectrum? They depend on the units of the input accelerogram? What kind of power spectrum is given in the program (it is normalised)?

Re: Power Spectrum
If you carry out a search on this Forum using the term "Power Spectrum", you will find indications on how the Power Spectrum is computed (hence the units).

Re: Power Spectrum
Good evening,
I entered a time-history in m/s2, Fourier Amplitude and Amplitude Power which units are?
by my calculations the Fourier Amplitude is m/s2/Hz,
power amplitude is in seconds.
is it right?
Power Amplitude is the PSD?
I have read the forum but have not yet understood.
thanks.

Re: Power Spectrum
Dear olmo,
Apologies for the delay in responding.
If you defined your acceleration time-history in m/s2, then the corresponding Fourier Amplitude will indeed be defined in m/s2/Hz, as you suggest.
The Power Spectral Amplitude (or Power Spectral Density) is indeed defined in 1/Hz.
