In regards to verification example Ch4.steel-1, I am trying to copy the cyclic loading parameters to use in a file on my own , however, in the example, the time is in increments of 5s, for 40 steps, thus a total of 400s, however, it is mentioned that the sampling time interval is set to 0.1seconds. Thus, when i copy the data and insert it into a new seismostruct file, my x-axis is only up to 4s rather than 400.
how can I get the time scale? I do not have an option of setting the time increment to 5s.
cyclic loading
Re: cyclic loading
Hi Relazem. Distinction must be made between the loading function and the analysis time step.
The loading function begins at 5 seconds and is defined at 10 second increments afterwards. This is defined in the "Load Curves" portion of the "Applied Loads" dialogue.
The analytical time step is indeed 0.1 seconds, and is defined in the "Time History Stages" portion of the "Applied Loads" dialogue.
The analytical time step need not be equal to the time step defining the loading pattern. In fact, it is often much less, as is the case here.
A time step of 0.1 seconds will certainly capture all the peaks of the loading definition, with 50 steps (5 seconds / 0.1 seconds per step) between onset of analysis and the first peak, and 100 steps (10 seconds / 0.1 steps per second) between each successive load peak.

Re: cyclic loading
please, I want to know the steps of applying cyclic load on seismostruct?
Re: cyclic loading
It should become clear upon study of Verification Report example problems. I would suggest:
Steel Frame - Example 1 (quasi-static cyclic loading example)
Steel Frame - Example 2 (acceleration history cyclic loading example)
There are several other examples of cyclic loading in the Verification Report and the associated SeismoStruct files are included with the installation. So a quick study of both the report and project files will be of great help.
Best of luck with your work, amany.
