Concrete wall modelling

Post by Sivanerupan »

Dear Support,

Can you please give some hints to model a rectangular concrete core (a lift shaft)?

Is that possible to connect walls by rigid links at the edges of wall without creating nodes at edges?

With thanks and regards,

Siva

Yes, the use of an equivalent beam-column element coupled with rigid arms would indeed be our suggestion for the modelling of the walls.
You may refer also to a recent publication by Beyer et al. (2008) in the Journal of Earthquake Engineering, Volume 12, Issue 1, pp. 1-33, for further hints and suggestions.
