Error when text output is requested in batch mode

Post by cchisari »

Dear Support Team,

I am trying to run a model from Seismobatch. The model works fine; but if I set the output to be in Text format (from Settings/General in Seismostruct) the analysis crashes when run from Seismobatch. The very same file works well if I run it from Seismostruct. Is there any restriction in the output mode of Seismobatch?

I am looking forward to your response.
Thank you in advance.

Some details: I am running Seismostruct and Seismobatch with an Academic License under Windows 8. I tried on Windows 7 and the problem is the same. The error is the following:

Code: Select all

      Permanent Loading
-----------------------------------------

 LF=  1.00000,   LF_incr=  1.00000  (Iter:  1 => Converg)

      Variable Loading
----------------------------

        Time
 Time=  0.05000,   dt=  0.05000  (Iter:  1 => Converg)
Exception EInOutError in module SStruct_Engine_v7.exe at 0036E8D5.
I/O error 103.
Apparently, it has problem in writing the output file.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.

Hi Cchisari,
The error code and description (I/O error 103) mean that the program cannot open, read or write the output file (Input/Ouput error). This is a general Windows error message, meaning that one application cannot open and use certain files, because these files are locked by other applications. Hence, it seems that at the same time that you try to run SeismoBatch you have the output or input file open in another application.

Dear Seismosoft Support,

Thank you for your reply. In fact, I cannot have any output file open when I run the input file from Seismobatch, as the file has not been created yet. I am working on my desktop (so I have all privileges on the folder), and I stress that if I change the output to binary, it works well with Seismobatch.

The problem is caused by the fact that you are using a concrete material model with the rss section.
Please use a steel or an elastic material model instead.

Hello everyone,

I am experiencing the very same problem when I activate the text output and try to simulate a model through the Batch Facility. A Windows error appears. Did anyone find a way to solve the problem?

Thank you in advance for any help,
Yves

Dear Yves,

This is a known bug that will be fixed in the next version of SeismoStruct, which will be released next month.
