Deformations at different locations

Post by gemini »

Hi,

I have made one bay one story reinforced concrete frame. I am using Inelastic Force Based elements. I have not descretized the beam or columns since FORCE BASED elements do not require discretization. Can I see the displacement values at locations other than nodes?

Because if I make nodes at columns to get the displacement at different location of column, then the results changes.

In short, I want displacement values at different location of columns without making nodes.

Thanks for the help

Hi gemini. I am not aware of a means to capture displacements at locations other than nodes with SeismoStruct. And it is not terribly surprising to have results change somewhat upon discretization, even with force based elements. But reasonably accurate results may still be achievable without discretization. Best of luck, gemini.

Hi gemini,
Unfortunately, it is not possible to get the displacement values at locations other than nodes. You should discretise the members, where you want to monitor the deformations, possibly using the displacement based element infrmDB, rather than infrmFB.
