defining a new material model

I have a question about the capability of Seismostruct.

Can we develop and define a new material model in Seismostruct?

Re: deformation in a rigid link

<r>I am confused and do not know what to do with this model. Now that it works for eigen value analysis, it will not converge when I perform a nonlinear time history analysis.<br/>
Can you please help me? Here is the model:<br/>

Re: deformation in a rigid link

I would appreciate it if you could confirm the existence of problems with those Tension-only links.

deformation in a rigid link

<t>Hi, <br/>
I modeled a 2 story, 1 bay steel braced frame with tension-only braces. After confirming the modeling by checking the eigen-value results, a Nonlinear-Time History Analysis was performed. Although the braces will not undergo compression, the links experience some deformation. They are ...

Re: steel chevron braced frame

Thanks for your reply. That should not be a problem. because I also tried with no imperfection at all.

steel chevron braced frame

<t>I am really frustrated with the results of this modeling. <br/>
<br/>
I have a single-bay 2-story steel frame with chevron (IV) braces. The beam to column connections are pinned. The braces do not participate in the results of the eigen-value analysis. I don not know why they are showing such a ...

to define a w-section or HSS

Hi,

I know that we can always add different sections by using the "Add" button. Is it possible to use the "add steel profile" button in Seismostruct to define a w-section or HSS?

Thanks.

Rigid Link, Tension only, Truss in series

<t>Hi,<br/>
<br/>
I am trying to perform N.time history analyses on a simple 2D One-story one-bay steel frame. But surprisingly, I cannot run the analysis. The error message says "Unable to apply the entire permanent load. Analysis terminated". Even though, I tried different modeling possibilities ...

Re: Tension only bracing

<t>Hi,<br/>
<br/>
I am trying to model a simple 2D Braced Frame (1-bay, 1-story) with tension only X-braces based on your suggestions. I have two queries please:<br/>
1. I do not know why but I could not model the tension only braces just by defining 1 (only one) Link element for each brace. In ...
