Additional Rebar in Slabs

Post by Dim.Anast »

Hello everyone. I have a question. Is there any way we can insert additional rebar in slabs, like we can in beams and Columns? I have an old building that has additional rebar near the supported beams. Do you know a way I can enter these too?

Dear Dim.Anast,

As it is written in SeismoStruct's User Manual and in case you use the Building Modeller facility: "The slab modelling is carried out with rigid diaphragms; hence, a rigid slab is implicitly considered in the structural configuration, which is the case for the vast majority of RC buildings. The slab’s loads (self weight, additional gravity and live loads multiplied by the corresponding coefficients in the SeismoStruct Building Modeller Settings module) are transformed to masses, based on the g value, and applied directly to the beams that support the slab.".
Hence, there is no need for such a detail in the assigned Slab's reinforcement.
