Dear sir,
I have modeled the RC-infiled frame. I want to know the infill deformation in terms of the strut, shear failure. And the seismostruct has given this provision in performance criteria its good for us. In nonframe element, strut & shear deformation how can I calculate? In software, the given default value is for strut deformation: 0.025, shear deformation: 0.035. Please explain in detail which value should I consider? And what is the unit of 0.025 value???. I hope you will explain in detail.
Thank you!!!

Re: Regarding infill deformation
The performance limits all depend on the type of the wall (type of brick, strength of mortar etc).
Please refer to the relevant bibliography to determine the values that suit you. There is a detailed list fo references in SeismoStruct's manual on every subject.

Re: Regarding infill deformation
There is detailed information in Appendif F of the manul (pages 437-441). There is plenty of information and plenty of references.
The reference that you will find most useful is:
Crisafulli F.J. [1997] Seismic Behaviour of Reinforced Concrete Structures with Masonry Infills, PhD Thesis, University of Canterbury, New Zealand.

Re: Regarding infill deformation
I have also a question about the infill deformation. What is the unit? is it a length unit, e.g. m, or is it dimensionless, e.g. % for interstorey drift?
Thanks for your answer and kind regards

Dear julia.kohns@kit.edu,
It is the length unit that you have selected in the Units Selector module.
