future development in next version-2013

Post by salar »

Hi Siemosmostruct
I'd be glad if these points mentioned below change and update in next version 2013.

1-assign diffrent loading such floor mass and triangle distriute load on beam or column.
2-seeing centre of mass and rigity.
3-Displaying distriubed load in element.
4-selecting the element by just clicking to defining loads.
5(important)-cover of each section will be different. "it is really necessary to be changed"
6(important)- we have somethimes different properties for different rebars in a same section like Fy or Es for example(for fi20->Fy=400,Es=200000 and for fi16->Fy=400,Es=150000), so for different steel rebars we should have different properties."it is really necessary to be changed"
7- Moment-curvature of section is not shown.just curvature curvature of element is shown in different "integration section".
8-seismostruct should be has more examples in manual, like pushover for concrete structure and any other.

Dear Salar,

Thank you for your suggestions. Below, please find our quick feedback on the matter:

1) in v7 of SeismoStruct, uniform distributed loads will indeed be present

2) the Centre of Mass will be displayed in a plugin for SeismoStruct v7 (called ConBuild) that we are currently developing as well. We currently have no plans to enable the visualisation of the Centre of Stiffness

3) in SeismoStruct v7, it will indeed be possible to display distributed loads in an element

4) we currently have no plans to allow point&click definition of element loads

5) we have discussed the issue of concrete cover in other posts (do a search in this Forum). We truly do not believe that varying the concrete cover from one section to another would change the overall results in any significant way (though we are happy to be shown results demonstrating the contrary)

6) this is also discussed in other posts in this Forum, as well as in the Help System/User Manual - one can easily take into account different steel properties by adapting the rebar diameter accordingly. In any case, in v7 of SeismoStruct, it will be possible to define different rebar properties in the 'rcjrs' section

7) we currently have no plans to carry out moment-curvature analysis at the Sections module, since, as you note, such information can be readily extracted from the integration sections of any given element

8) as discussed many times in this Forum, users can readily make use of the 'Wizard' facilities to easily and rapidly create pushover models etc
