I would like to suggest the implementation of the constitutive law of Dhakal and Maekawa for steel in compression, which includes buckling effects. Reference can be made to the following paper:
Dhakal, R. and Maekawa, K. (2002). "Modeling for Postyield Buckled of Reinforcement" J. Struct. Eng., 128(9), 1139-1147.
Kind regards

Re: Constitutive law for rebar in compression
Thanks for the suggestion.
One question, however; how different is your proposed constitutive relationship with respect to the Monti-Nuti steel model, which is implemented in SeismoStruct?
Thanks again,

Re: Constitutive law for rebar in compression
Thank you for accepting my suggestion. The main difference between the Monti-Nuti and the Dhakal model is that the first is more complicated to be inputed but it is suitable for cyclic loading; in other hand the Dhakal model is very simple, defined just on the basis of the L/d ratio (ratio between the critical lenght and the bar diameter), but it is not calibrated for cyclic loading and consequently it is recommended for pushover analysis.
