Zig-Zag in pushover curve

Dear all
I am doing pushover analysis for a low-rise RC frame building using the inelastic plastic-hinge force-based frame element (infrmFBPH) considering displacement control.
Can anyone tell what the possible reasons are for having a zig-zag in some parts of the pushover curve (see attached figure), and is this acceptable?

In my experience, this is not unusual. It is likely that the first drop in load constitutes the failure point, even though collapse is not yet imminent at that point. It could be that one plastic hinge has formed and load is redistributed through the structure. Of course, you will have to determine the true failure point based on your specific criteria.
