Modelling internal constraints

Post by LuCanic »

Dear seismostruct support,

I'am working on two-dimensional steel structure (Plan x-z), I have to consider the internal constraints between beam and column as a hinge. What parameters should be blocked?

If you mean the internal releases, then you should release the rotational DOFs, i.e. rx, ry & rz

Hi seismosoft support,
thanks for the answer.
My intent is to model an hinge between column and beam through the element "link", but when I run the analysis I get moments of nodes.
How can I solve the problem?

Use a link element with the rotational DOFs released, i.e. K=0.
