dynamic time history analysis (error message)

<t>Hi,<br/>
<br/>
As I am running dynamic time history analysis, the analysis often stops and reports that "Unable to apply next load step. Analysis terminated".<br/>
<br/>
what does that mean? Does it mean that there is a stability problem such as my system is not stable anymore.<br/>
<br/>

error message

<t>Hi, <br/>
<br/>
I am running an incremental dynamic analysis with 15 IDA parameter for a 2-D, three storey regular frame structure, for an earthquake record with duration of 20 second and with time step dt=0.005 second (4000 step)(as original record).After the analysis finishes, when I try to get ...

incremental dynamic analysis

<t>Hi, <br/>
I am trying to run an incremental dynamic analysis for a multistorey structure. At postprocessor to build dynamic pushover curve, the maximum drift value is only obtained between two user defined nodes. Is it possible to obtain dynamic pushover curve for maximum (interstorey) drift ...

damping

<t>1) It is written in Help System that "total viscous damping forces (which are the product, at every analysis step, of the damping matrix with the velocity vector)". I would like to learn if the velocity vector taken into consideration in solutions is relative velocity vector or total velocity ...

Re: dashpot modelling

<t>I had already fixed the dashpots and links to the ground as it is written in Help System.The very huge base shear I mentioned was found with this model. <br/>
I am trying to do "soil structure interaction analysis" and I want to model soil with horizantal and rocking springs and dampers as it was ...

dashpot modelling

<t>I have a problem with defining dashpot element at the base of my system. I also use a linear link element at the base and running dynamic time history analysis. <br/>
<br/>
1) When I complete the analysis, total base shear of system is a very huge number like 2500-3000 kN, although total base ...
