Re: Shear wall modelling

Are you allowed to check models?

Re: Shear wall modelling

Noted. I tried exploring changing the different material properties and section properties, however it remained being steel. I was just wanted to know if there was any détail of the model other than those I explored that could influence the initial elastic part.

Re: Shear wall modelling

I received pushover curves, however the initial slope is rather steep. Can you kindly indicate what I may have possibly done wrong? I have attached a link showing the pushover curve that resulted.

Re: Shear wall modelling

I noticed you said element offsets and not rigid offsets. Are the two the same as I have only noticed rigid offsets in the manual?

Re: Shear wall modelling

In modelling, using wall sections and wall spandrels or horizontally spanning wall sections, it appears that when inserted there is no connection between them and they are disjointed from each other? The nodes of the vertical sections are positioned at its centre and the spandrels at its and. Becaus...

Re: Shear wall modelling

Yes this is my thinking also. I decided to start with a smaller problem, which is just to model a short wall with two openings and a ring or bond beam spanning over its entire length above the wall piers, prior to the huge building problem. I am really unable to get the piers to connect to the beam ...

Re: Shear wall modelling

The model you made reference to has both rigid links and rigid diaphragm constraints and indeed has concrete slabs at each level. How would you recommend that I connect the piers (vertical wall sections) and horizontal wall sections in my model as without connecting with rigid links I receive an err...
