Re: modeling SMA braces in 6story steel frame

From the structure of SeismoStruct, it is not possible to use a material model to calibrate link elements. You need to employ one of the available response curves. Seismosoft Support I do not understand. So what is the purpose of 'scb' curve type under link element in the 'Element Classes'. As I sa...

Re: modeling SMA braces in 6story steel frame

The error that I get in between the processor stage of the time history analysis is : Prd_Ite and Adp_Cnv meaning that it does not converge

Re: modeling SMA braces in 6story steel frame

What can be a suitable suggestion to make the model running? As it works in one type of analysis (static pushover) but not in the dynamic time history.

Re: modeling SMA braces in 6story steel frame

1) It depends on the connection of your brace system 2) Again, It depends on your structural configuration, but probably not 3) You can get all the action effects (e.g. axial loads, strain) from the post-processor. You could also set stress points to follow the stress strain history at specific loc...

Re: Pushover curve

Hello I am modelling a 4 storey jacket with high strength concrete jacket. However, although the structure is designed well in ETABS, the pushover curves still gives me weird pushover curves, as some of its branches shows a slight descend and then ascend. I am suspecting some kind of bug in the mod...

Re: Buckling-Restrained Braces ( BRB ) Modelling

Yes, provided that you have pinned joints at the braces ends. Note also that, apart from the standards steel mterials, there is a special buckling restrained steel brace model stl_brb. Seismosoft Support https://ibb.co/MsBnbWz How do I know the 'material properties' that need to be defined to corre...

Re: Modeling braced frame with truss element

I have actually started from the Eigen value analysis and it is only when I release the moments that the convergence problem occurs. The model works perfectly without the releases. I have also read the manual and the chapter on 'Tips to solve convergence problems'. I have done all the different step...

Re: Modeling braced frame with truss element

Yes, I have tried both the options as I mentioned above and still the convergence error occurs.
