Energy dissipation of Link elements

Hi Seismosoft,

I moddeled a beam-to-column connection on Seismo by means of a link element with a smooth curve... and now I would like to compare the energy dissipation of the expermental results with the energy dissipation of my model... but I do not know how to do it... anyone can help me please ...

Re: IDA analyses on steel MRF

I have another question also... to see the beam rotation on SeismoStrucut...is in the IDA envelope in the dl parameter of elements deformation ? or in the R3(A) ? I do not know what those parameters mean and I can not find the definition anywhere ...

thank you, Ana Santos

Re: IDA analyses on steel MRF

Hey huffle,

Thank you a lot for your answer... I am scaling the spectrums of the different ground motion in order to have a similar behaviour around the fundamental period of the strucuture... and I have introduce scale factor until at least one of the connection os the structure achieved the ...

IDA analyses on steel MRF

Hi everyone,

I am doing IDA (incrementa dynamic analyses) on the same MRF frame but with different beam-to-column connections typologies... and for each of the connections typologies the MRF presents a different fudamental period... my problem is, when I check the maximum drift ratio (0.04 rad in ...

Stability check of the members

Hi everyone,

I am doing a pushover analysis on a steel frame.... and what I want to know is if the SeismoStruct does the stability verfications (buckiling resistance) of the members of the frame (beams/columns) according to EC3-1-1 ?

Thabk you,

Re: How can I find the location of plastic hinge?

Hi,

thank you very much... I applied the performance criteria for the columns but for the connections how can I see it? the connections have a plastic behaviour, so if the hysterics curves achieve the moment resistance of the connections I can admit that it yields?

Re: Failure in pushover

Hi everyone,

I am doing a response control pushover with a target displacement of 2m ( the design displacement is 0,78m but the EC8-1 stated that the pushover curve should be done to displacements between 0 and 150% of the design displacement).... the problem is when the structure reachs the ...
