Re: fbd-Ite problem

<t>Hi Huffte,<br/>
<br/>
Thank you for your kind help. The behavior of force-based element and displacement-based element are different, one of my interest is to compare both. In my case, there will be a lot of springs attached to the column, that's why I need to define many nodes along the column ...

Re: fbd-Ite problem

<t>Hi Salar,<br/>
<br/>
I appreciate your advice. I think I would keep working with SeismoStruct.<br/>
<br/>
You are right, use inelastic elements for plastic hinge length,and elastic elements for others. But the same problem should be solved since there are many nodes in the inelastic elements in ...

Re: fbd-Ite problem

<t>Yes, I unchecked both, but the 'fbd_Ite' messages still come out, I think because of the too small elements in the column while using 'infrmFB' element. <br/>
<br/>
May I know is it possible to set up the nodes attached to the column without separating it in Seismostruct. For example, I defined ...

Re: fbd-Ite problem

<t>Rui,<br/>
<br/>
Thank you so much for you reply and advice. Now I am reading the paper by Calabrese etal. (2010) and it is useful. The small elements cause the fail to converge, but if I want to use the springs to model the soil (3 in/spring) so the pile has to be separated by several nodes, do ...

Re: fbd-Ite problem

<t>Yes, I have tried all the methods you mentioned. change the maximum iteration number to 1000;uncheck the 'Do not allow element unbalanced forces in case of fbd_ite' option;decrease the load steps. But it doesn't work. <br/>
Now, I tried to set up a single column (18'), fix in the bottom, use ...

Re: fbd-Ite problem

Thank you for your answer. I have increased the number of iterations as the model I sent you, but it still doesn't work.

If we decrease the analysis step,the same problem comes out, it terminates at small strain and can not reach the ductility I want. Thank you.

fbd-Ite problem

<t>Dear Seismo,<br/>
<br/>
I am modeling a single column with several springs using static time-history analysis, when I set the curve multiplier =0.09 or more in the Applied Loads, then the analysis will terminate with the "fbd_Ite" message. Would you please tell me why and how to solve it? I have ...

Re: cyclic pushover analysis

Thank you for your suggestion. I think I'd better use static time history. quote:Originally posted by salar

Dear Tracy,
Why don't you use static time history beside Pushover analysis?
With that analysis type you can define loads history in any story.

cyclic pushover analysis

Dear Seismo, may I know can I apply the reversed loading in the static pushover analysis?(I mean apply the load from x direction to -x direction repeatedly) Thanks a lot.
