hi everybody
I don't know whether for getting the moment curvature of a column section (with constant axial force)I should run processor or not? how can I get the moment curvature curve?
I jus need the moment curvature of the critical section as output.
thank you

Maryam,

Have you searched this Forum for "moment-curvature" already?

hello;
you can find your answer after the analysis finishes but it depends on kind of element class and the way that you have modeled it,anyway in post processor tab-global response- frame hysteretic section select the column...

Hi Maryam,

Whenever I wanted to get the moment-curvature response of a section using SeismoStruct I simply used a very short vertical element (let us say 0.5m), with the desired cross section, with a pair of forces on top (a horizontal incremental one, which will assure the necessary bending moment to the element/cross section, and a vertical one, equal to the axial loading).

Then, you just need to carry out a pushover analysis of this simple structure and get the results from the post-processor (moment and curvature) for the desired section.

Hope it does the trick! Let me know if you need help.

Cheers.

hi abazand
in the case that you addressed is not correct.it just gives like Moment-rotation, and for curvature of section this program can't be account.seismostruct just gives curvature of element in different "integration section" in stress and strain output->frame element curvature.

Hi Ricardo,

I followed your instruction for finding the moment-curvature relation. If I used forced based element with 5 integration sections then it gives five different curvature values. Do I need to add them up to get the total curvature? Please advise.

Thanks

Hi Muntasir,

Given that you are looking for the Moment-Curvature relationship for the cross section, and you will be using the bending moment at the restrained end-node of the element, you should also use the curvature of the integration point (IP) that corresponds to the same end-node (it will be IP number 1 or 5) without adding them up.

Best,
Ricardo
