Concrete Craking Behaviour

Post by awnurn »

Dear Seismosoft,

I have built a single bay and a single story Concrete (without selfweight) frame model for a static analysis that includes a Vertical load of 10lb at mid span, after analysis the vertical base Reactions are 6.77 lb on each fix support. Why is the software providing greater values?
If i provide the value of 1psi in tensile strength of concrete instead of concrete craking strength, then getting right results.
kindly help me understanding this behaviour.

Dear awnurn,

The details you provide are not sufficient for one to fully assess the situation, but one possibility could be that the load being applied is very large and thus giving rise to geometrical nonlinearities that might explain the results you are observing.

We would thus suggest you to disable the consideration of geometrical nonlinearities, and re-run the analysis.
