✅ Problem with frame analysis: both columns in compression under horizontal load

Hi everyone,
I have a problem with the static analysis of this frame. As you can see, there is only one horizontal load applied to the frame, and based on that, one of the columns should be in compression and the other in tension. But in my results, both columns are in compression, and the vertical force equilibrium is not satisfied.
Could someone please explain why this problem is happening?

Can you send along details of the model, sasanshah? Or your model file? It will be difficult to answer the question without such details.

First of all, the 50000N lateral load is not large enough to overcome the weight of the structure at the left column. That is why it never goes into tension. If you increase the load, eventually it would.

Secondly, the structure is quite weak and is experiencing significant nonlinearity at about 43000N.

The shear sums do appear to be fine.

Best of luck sasanshah.
