Modelling of a Nail as a non-linear link element

I am trying to model a connection between two plates and believe the best model to do this would be using a non-linear link; I have data recorded for a specific type of nail which follows a stress-strain curve; however, with seismostruct I am unable to model the dip in this curve where the displacement is increasing but the strength is reducing. It seems that I am only able to model a positive relationship between stress and strain, is it posssible to model this dip for my non-linear element

Dear Cianmc345,

Currently, there are 29 response curves available within SeismoStruct that may be used in a nonlinear link element. One of them that might cover your requirements is the Gen_Hyst response curve, a generic uniaxial response curve characterised by Pinching effect and by four deterioration modes including strength deterioration, peak stress deterioration, reloading and unloading stiffness deterioration.
