Non-prismatic Members

Hello. I believe that non-prismatic/tapered members are not yet available in SeismoBuild or even SeismoStruct. I was told to use the average cross section of the tapered columns when I attended online training for the software. However, is it acceptable to model the tapered columns into smaller segments? Let's say, into 4 segments. This means that I need to make a 1-story structure be defined as a "4-story" structure. Is this acceptable or any ideas how to deal with this? Thank you very much!
