Record generation

Post by ChrT »

Hello,
I would like to ask you about the units when defining the records.
It seems that the software recognizes the input/generated motion in g, while the Accelerations in the units definition (bottom right) are set in m/s2.
Does this mean that when I input my accelerogram in g, I do not need to scale to m/s2?
Furthermore, we noticed that when extracting the model to Seismostruct, it automatically applies a scaling of 9.81.

Thank you for your help,

In the Nonlinear Dynamic Procedure of SeismoBuild the generated records (as well as the records input by the users) are in g. Then, when the model is passed to SeismoStruct (or when the model is run in SeismoBuild) a factor of 9.81 is applied (for SI units) to transform g to m/sec2.
You are right, the label at the status bar is a bit misleading (we will consider to remove it in subsequent releases).
