Hi Seismosoft,

Do you know the proper to model a spherical sliding bearing base isolator? I tried to model it on my own but I think there’s something wrong with the results for acceleration and displacement.

Any help is highly appreciated.

Dear user,
We have a special element for modeling spherical sliding bearing isolators (in fact friction pendulum isolators), which is the Bearing 2 element.
The bearing 2 model has coupled response between the horizontal axes and includes a coulomb velocity dependent friction law.
Did you use the bearing 2 element for your modeling or a link element selecting the response curve for each axis?
If you used the link element which respone curves did you use?
Also what kind of problems did you identify with acceleration and velocity?
