Push-over with initial displacement

Hi,
I want to do a PO for 3-story 2D frame model with an initial displacement applied (represented a damaged building).
I have tried to apply the displacement as a permanent load at the roof node, but when I did the PO, displacement of the node stayed the same as the prescribed initial displacement instead of increasing due to PO.
What is the best way to do it?

Hi Hanggara. Two methods come to mind. I am sure there are others. But I will offer up the following:

1. Create the model in the displaced geometry. For example, if the roof nodes have a 3 inch offset due to damage, then create the nodes 3 inches from their ideal location. This method has the disadvantage of excluding any initial stressing of the damaged members.

2. By a trial and error static analysis, find the force distribution at each story which will produce the desired initial (damaged) displacement and apply those forces as permanent loads.

Best of luck Hanggara.

Thank you so much for your advice sir.
I think the second method is the appropriate method for my case. For now, I will follow this method.
But since I have to run many cases the trial and error will cost some time.
if the seismosoft support can provide other efficient ways it will be helpful.

Unfortunately, we do not have any better suggestion. I think that the second method is the way to do it.
