Displacement Values Display

There appears to be a slight problem in the "Displacement Values Display" option while post-processing Dynamic Time History results.

The displacements look fine when viewing time history plots and hysteretic curves. But displacements of almost 2500 inches show up on the Deformed Shape Viewer when the "Displacement Values Display" option is selected.

This may also be a problem with the input motion file (ChiChi_tranv.dat) in that the integratedground displacement may be quite high, but it shouldn't be 200 feet I think. I'm not sure which is the problem.

Dear huffte,

If you uncheck the "Relative Displacement" option in the 'Structural Displacements' post-processor module, you should get (large) values identical to those you are seeing in the 'Deformed Shape Viewer', right?

Such high values are indeed related to the characteristics of the (likely unfiltered) record that you are using, as you can readily understand by looking at the velocity and displacement time-histories yield by SeismoSignal for such accelerogram.

If you were to filter the record with a Highpass filter that would eliminate the unrealistic long-period contents of that unfiltered record (using e.g. a frequency threshold of 0.2 Hz - i.e. period threshold of 5 seconds), you would notice that such large absolute ground displacements would disappear.

Hope this helps.

This is a tremendous help. Thanks very much.
