Dears,

I want to model a kelvin voigt to introduce pounding between adjacent buildings so I want to use a link parallel with a dashpot.
is it enough to introduce a dshpot node with the same node of the link element? or not do you know how I can do that?

Hi bavafa612006. In the SeismoStruct help system you can find that the damping (dashpt) element class is fixed to the ground. So you may have trouble modeling the pounding with such. I provide the following quote from the Help system as well:

"For a Kelvin-Voigt model (i.e. parallel coupling of damping and stiffness), one may again make use of a link element, this time placed in parallel with a dashpt, though in these cases it may result easier to simply assign directly to the link element a given viscous damping value. "
