Infill wall using Crissafulli Model

hi everyone,

Why there is no effect on the peak strength when I am changing the shear bond strength and maximum shear in inf_shear curve with taking friction coefficient as approximately zero i.e 0.00001

like if i take shear bond strength=1 and max shear=1 and friction=0.00001 the peak value of base shear is 450
then if i change shear bond strength=2 and max shear=2 and friction=0.00001 the peak value remains the same i.e 450

Why don't the peak strength changes as shear bond strength has increased...

Thanks for the help

Is this some software problem???

You mean the peak strength of the entire structure?
If this is so, the strength remains the same probably because in both cases (max stength 1 or 2 KPa - note the units of your project) the effect of the shear is negligible.
Further, after a certain level of deformation the effect of the shear strut is eliminated and becomes zero, hence it does not affect the maximum structural capacity (the shear strut plays no role, but the infill element as a whole does!). Refer to the help of the program or the user manula for further information.

Thanks for the answer.
How do the software calculate Infill panel forces of Shear 1?? Which formula is used??

Like I verified for compressive strut that for Strut 1 it calculates axial load by multiplying fm' with Area of strut(A2)

It calculates it in a similar fashion, i.e. by multipying the shear stress with the Area of strut.
You can refer to the thesis by Crissafulli for further details.

See i think software have some sort of problem because A/c to Crissafulli shear strength depends on bond strength and friction coefficient (Elastic Response- before the bond shear strength is reached Equation 8.14 of Crissafulli thesis). But when I increase the bond strength no changes has been observed in Infill Panel Hysteresis Curve Shear 1 strut.
But if I keep on changes the friction coefficient then the shear strength increases or decreases.
It concludes that maximum shear force in shear strut is only dependent on coefficient of friction. But this is not the case.

Thank you for replying

"I dont know how to attach picture in the forum otherwise I would show you the formulas from Crissafulli thesis"

Gemini hi,

Indeed there was a bug in the inf_shear curve, and the bond strength value was not read correctly. The bug has been corrected and it will appear fixed in the upcoming SeismoStruct 2016 that will be published next month.
Thank you for this important contribution,

How to modelling infill walls using Single Strut model in Seismostruct? The default model in this software is using double strut model, right? So, can I change it to single strut mldel?

No, unfortunately you cannot use a single strum model.
The model employed in SeismoStruct is the double-strut model of Crissafulli.
