FRP application to concrete joints

Post by gvsubbiah »

Hi.
I am new to seimostruct. I want to apply the frp sheets to the joint in seismostruct. Anyone suggest me how to apply the frp sheets to the joint.
Thank you..

thank you for your kind reply sir

I have applied the fiber to the joint sir.As I want to use FRP Strips at the region of joint only. When I am giving the strip spacing of frp it is not showing in which region the strip has been applied. I want to create a model as given in link.

Is it possible to apply the bi-dirctional fiber in seismosoft?
Please help me sir
thank you

Dear gvsubbiah,

You may appropriately subdivide the entire element, by using the "Subdivide" button available in the "Element Connectivity" module, and assign different sections at the joints.

Thank you z.gronti sir,

Is it possible to give bi-directional fiber orientation to the joint?
thank you

Thank you for your kind reply sir,
While applying fibers to the joint, which type of orientation it will assume and is there any ovelapping of fibers at the joint region.

Thanks

Dear gvsubbiah,

The equations of Annex A of EN1998-3 have been employed for the calculation of the contribution of the FRP jacket to the section's confinement factor. Please refer to the Eurocode 8- Part 3 for more information.

Thank you for your kind reply sir,

Sorry sir for being not specific, In seismostruct v7.0.4, which type of fiber orientation (longitudinal or transverse) the program will assume and is there any overlapping of fibers at the joint region.

Thank you.

Dear gvsubbiah,

The FRP jacket is taken into account only in the calculation of the section's confinement factor. The FRP fibers are considered orthogonally to the member axis and no overlapping is taken into consideration.
